The Russian Defense Ministry plans to buy 150 new generation Yak-152 training aircraft for initial flight training from the “Irkut” corporation by 2020, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov told reporters on Tuesday.
“Last year, we signed a contract on development and construction of the Yak-152. The following year, it must be completed. The Air Force plans to buy 150 such machines by 2020,” – said Borisov, who visited the Irkutsk aircraft factory on Tuesday.
He noted that the Defense Ministry is “watching attentively” the progress of work on this aircraft.
“We discussed the issue of simultaneous signing of a contract for the supply of these aircraft. It remains in force. When the factory workers present all the calculations, we will sign the contract by 2020,” – said Deputy Minister.
