Russia will provide Tajikistan weapons by 70 billion rubles

Russia is ready to provide military assistance to Tajikistan worth 70 billion rubles (US $1.23 billion), “Kommersant” newspaper reported citing a source in the General Staff.

Dushanbe and Moscow agreed in the summer of 2014 to jointly implement the modernization program of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan.

The source said Russia will supply military equipment (communications equipment, small arms and ammunition, artillery and anti-aircraft missile systems) to Tajikistan.

On April 2, Dushanbe hosted the meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers where the officials discussed the ways to prevent Islamic State to get into the territory of Tajikistan.
