Russia to cease military transit to Afghanistan


Russia terminates the transit of military equipment and weapons to Afghanistan, the corresponding decree was signed by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitrii Medvedev.

As noted in a document published Monday on the official web portal of legal information, the decision was made because of the termination of provisions of the UN Security Council resolution 1386.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed “to inform foreign governments and international organizations about cancelling of surface and combined transit of weapons, military equipment and military property via rail, road, and air transport through the territory of the Russian Federation to the dislocation of the International Security Assistance Force in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (ISAF) and backwards.
