Cooperation in the naval sphere is an important component of bilateral relations between China and Russia, and it helps to maintain peace in the region, the Ministry of Defense of China, commenting recently promulgated new maritime doctrine of Russia, said.
The new version of this doctrine provides for a sufficient presence of Russia in the Mediterranean Sea, the decline of national security threats in the Arctic, the consolidation of the leading position of the Russian Federation in the development of the region. In addition, the document calls for close cooperation of the Russian Navy with China and India.
The Ministry also noted that “cooperation in the naval field shall contribute to the protection of peace and stability in the region and around the world.”
Russia’s defense firms’ revenues hit new highs in 2014 according to the Defense News Top 100 ranking, indicating that the West’s sanctions have had no effect on one of Russia’s key industries.
Seven of Russia’s biggest defense companies feature in the latest Defense News Top 100 ranking, reaching new highs despite widely discussed Western sanctions policies against Russia.
Predictably, the list is topped by American corporations Lockheed Martin and Boeing, as well as the British multinational BAE Systems.
The publication Defense News published the latest version of its top 100 largest defense companies in the world. The list includes seven Russian companies.
Rating was conducted in terms of revenues generated from the sale of military goods and the provision of related services. Topping the list is the American corporation Lockheed Martin the second place at Boeing the third – at BAE Systems.

Military exercises involving Mikoyan MiG-31 (NATO reporting name: Foxhound) interceptors and Kamov Ka-27 (Helix) helicopters have started at the Yelizovo airbase in the Far Eastern Kamchatka Territory, Russia’s Eastern Military District spokesman, Captain 1st Rank Roman Martov said on Wednesday.

Russia will resume production of WIG vehicles as shock combat systems with cruise missiles after 2020, senior spokesperson of the Russian Navy command told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
The WIG is a high-speed vehicle, something between a heavy aircraft and a light boat. The unit flies within the limits of an aerodynamic screen at an altitude of up to several meters from the surface of water or ground.
Earlier Russia developed two models of WIG vehicles for the armed forces – the military transport “Orlenok” and the combat “Lun” with cruise missiles.
Airborne troops are planning to get 50 new BMD-4M airborne combat vehicles and 30 “Rakushka” armored personnel carriers, Airborne troops Commander Vladimir Shamanov said on July 29.
