Creation of aerospace forces requires no new international treaties

Russia’s creating aerospace forces does not run counter to the international space security concept and no new international treaties are needed, Russian First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov said on Sunday.

“While carrying out this work [the establishment of the aerospace forces – TASS], we made profound scientific research, a series of test and exploratory drills,” he told the Rossiya-1 television channel.

He stressed that the establishment of these forces violated no international treaty on outer space security.
