State tests of a new sniper rifle “Tochnost” for the Russian army will be held until the end of 2015, the Director General of the Central research Institute of precision engineering (TSNIITOCHMASH) Dmitry Semizarov said.
“Now preliminary tests of this new sniper system are nearly completion. We believe that the main problem we have to catch will be a small period of work on the bugs, and until the end of the year we will conduct the tests,” Semizarov said at the forum “Army-2015”.
New sniper rifle, he noted, had the working title of “Tochnost”.
The new rifle is 7.62 mm, and is producet at “Orsis”.
Military trials of the modern armored heavy-duty vehicle “Typhoon”, after which the Defense Ministry will decide on the mass production of the machine, will be completed in 2015, Director of the Department of digital design systems at “KAMAZ” Alexei Purtov told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
“Now we have changed the concept, the main priority is to save the lives of soldiers: our new armored vehicle “Typhoon”, which took part in the Victory Day parade this year, is highly protected. It is now undergoing tests in the armed forces – they will be completed this year and, of course, we look forward to batch production”, – he said.
The troops of electronic warfare will receive about 300 units of modern technology this year, the Defense Ministry press service reported on Wednesday.
“These are almost all groups of EW equipment – radio jamming, radar and navigation, protection of precision weapons, control means and software. Among them are particularly important modern complexes such as “Krasuha-2O”, “Murmansk-BN”, “Borisoglebsk- 2”, “Krasuha-S4” and “Svet-KU”. There are more than 20 types of equipment,” – a press-release said.
“Today, the electronic warfare troops are armed with modern systems of electronic intelligence and jamming, which by their performance characteristics are not only not inferior to the best foreign analogues, but are also better on a number of the combat indicators. They are able to neutralize and block the most dangerous enemy weaponry, including high-precision weapons,” – the department noted.
Divisions of the Central Military District Artillery Brigade, stationed in the Kemerovo region, received new mobile intelligence centers “Argus”, said Tuesday the press office of the district.
“New equipment was delivered to all divisions, having replaced the outdated modification”, – the report says.
“Argus”, as the press service reminded, is designed for artillery reconnaissance and fire control. It is equipped with a radar system, night vision device, thermal imaging, which allows to determine the coordinates of remote camouflaged targets at any time.
Russia and the United Arab Emirates may sign a preliminary agreement on the supply of a combat module – the automatic AU-220M 57 mm mount – to the UAE side, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said on Monday.
The AU-220M automatic artillery mount (combat unit), produced by the Central Research Institute “Burevestnik” (part of “Uralvagonzavod”), was presented on February 22, 2015 at the IDEX-2015 International Defense Industry Exhibition that is being held in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
The Minister also expressed confidence that in the near future, the United Arab Emirates will offer Russia new projects for the joint military production.
Modern weapons are becoming more and more intelligent and perfect, but at the same time they are increasingly dependent on a variety of electronic systems. Modern military equipment is literally crammed with electronic devices and sensors, making it more efficient, but it also becomes more vulnerable to modern electronic warfare. In Russia, the creation of modern electronic warfare is underway. There appeared information about new developments in the field of electromagnetic weapons, for example, “Alabuga” complex. Modern means of radio warfare are actively delivered to the army, and their main producer is Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET), which is part of the state corporation Rostec.
Over the last six months, the grouping of the Russian Armed Forces in the Crimea has been armed with the S-300 PMU complexes, the “Bal” and “Bastion” anti-ship complexes, the Su-27 and Su-30 fighters, other types of weapons and military equipment, said a source in the law enforcement bodies of the Crimea.
The Crimea became part of the Russian Federation after the referendum held on the peninsula on March 16 this year.
“After reunification of the Crimea with Russia, the army grouping has been significantly strengthened by means of deliveries of new weapons and military equipment to the peninsula, including the S-300 PMU, the “Bal” and “Bastion” anti-ship complexes, the Su-27 and Su-30 fighters,” – a spokesman said.
New “Vintorez” sniper rifles entered into service of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan, said spokesman of the Central Military District, Colonel Jaroslav Roschupkin.
This military base is the largest military facility of the Russian Federation located abroad. According to the agreement concluded in October 2012, the formation will perform tasks in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, at least until 2042.
“In the course of practical shootings the snipers used the SP-5 and SP-6 bullets which, due to the relatively low muzzle velocity practically do not ricochet, which makes “Vintorez” indispensable in close combat on rough terrains,” – added Roschupkin.
Southern Military District flamethrowers during firings launched dozens of unguided missiles and used a powerful thermobaric bomb at the range of Prudboy in the Volgograd region, the press service of the Southern Military District said on Tuesday.
“During the firings there were held more than 70 launches of 220-mm unguided missiles with a thermobaric warhead at 30 different ground targets located at a distance of three to six kilometers, and made over 200 shots from “Shmel-M, “- a statement said.
During the training the servicemen “tested” a thermobaric bomb of increased power. This is a type of ammunition that spray and explode combustibles. The firings have shown that with the use of such shells the firing range almost doubles (up to six kilometers), and the power of destruction grows by 15-20%.
The Russian army began receiving the new “Verba” portable air defense missile systems, developed by Kolomna design bureau, which is a part of the “Precision complexes” holding. As for its effectiveness the complex has no equals in the world, says the press service of the company.
State tests of the complex were completed in 2011. At the moment, the Airborne Division and the motorized infantry brigade of the Eastern District are armed with “Verba”. The servicemen who are already familiar with the new complex, said that a better MANPADS in the world does not exist. The “Verba” is unsurpassed as for its target detection range and affected area.
