Snipers of the peacekeeping compound of the Central Military District in the framework of scientists have started working out fire from rifles silent “Vintorez” at the site in the Samara region, the press service of the Central Military District said on Wednesday .
The special course, which involves more than 60 snipers, will end on March 12 by supervision sessions.

“Vintorez” equipped with day and night optics, armor-piercing ammunition, and integrated device for conducting noiseless and flameless fire.

Russia opts out of European arms control treaty

Russia says it will no longer attend consultations related to a key European arms control treaty, accusing the West of stonewalling its demands.

The move comes as Russia-West relations have plunged to their lowest point since the Cold War times over the Ukrainian crisis.

The 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe treaty limits the number of tanks, aircraft and other heavy non-nuclear weapons deployed on the continent. Russia suspended its participation in 2007, citing NATO countries’ failure to ratify a new version signed in 1999.

Crews of the rescue ship of the Northern Fleet “Mikhail Rudnitsky” and a deep-water apparatus AC-36 conduct exercises in the Kola Bay, the press service of the Navy said on Wednesday.
“The teaching takes place in the Kola Bay at depths up to 60 meters. The crew of the rescue unit AC-36 is involved in the training of planting the device on the coaming-site booth layout lying on the ground of the submarine,” the statement said.

Russian tankers to prepare for biathlon in Armenia

About 300 Russian tanks started to prepare to compete in Tank biathlon in the territory of the Russian military base in Armenia, the press service of the Southern Military District said.

Top tankers will take part in the competition for the Cup of the Southern Military District in May this year.
The first world championship of Tank biathlon, which included competitions in the skill of driving tanks and hit target shooting with machine guns and cannons, took place in the suburban Alabino from 4 to 16 August 2014. The championship was attended by representatives of 12 countries, more than 20 countries sent their observers.

Foreign Ministry: Russia stops its cooperation in the Joint Commission

Starting on March, 11 Russia stops its participation in sessions of the joint consultative group for the Treaty on ordinary military forces in Europe, thus finalizing the activity of the Treaty.

The head of the Russian delegation underlines that for many years Russia has been fully cooperating to maintain the control over the ordinary military forces. At the same time NATO was developing and expanding, becoming an obstacle to the adaptation agreement.

In 2007 Russia decided not to fully cut its activities because of the position of many participating countries.

However, this step does not mean that Russia will not participate in further cooperation to control ordinary armaments in Europe.

Moscow international security conference to be shown online

Moscow international security conference will be shown online on the site of the Russian Defense ministry.

The forum will take place on April, 16-17. Its participants will discuss topical questions of global and regional security. Several tens of countries, including NATO members, will partake in the conference.

The site will provide all the factual information for the topics discussed.

This international forum is for the fourth time organized by the Russian Federation.

Russian defense minister controls Crimean fleet combat readiness

The press-service for the Ministry of Defense announced that in a working trip to Crimea Shoigu checked the combat readiness of the Russian fleet.

On March, 10 the minister examined the Southern military district of the country.

Shoigu studied facilities and activities of the military groups in the district, including the base for submarines and military ships.

A group of generals and higher officers also controlled the everyday activity of military units created in December 2014.

Shoigu orders to complete building sports facilities for military school in Sebastopol

Russian Defense minister visited the presidential military school in Sebastopol and ordered to complete building its sports facilities by September, 1 2015.

The construction of this military school started in April 2014. This will be a modern school with sophisticated equipment for academic and sports activities. Now an ice palace, a swimming pool and open sports ground are being completed.

The chief of Russian defense also controlled the preparation of Russian fleet in Crimea.

The minister positively spoke of the school’s experience in implementing innovative and professional academic programs.
